About the Poway High School  Choir Program

There is a choir for everyone!

Poway High School Choral Department has 3 choirs-- all are for-credit classes that meet the UC/CSU “F” requirement.  All choirs learn music theory and are performance based – meaning participation in all rehearsals, concerts and festivals is required.Scroll down to learn more about each of the choirs and our Choir Director, Ms. Schemmel

Choral students have the opportunity to audition for the Southern California Regional Honor Choir and All-State Honor Choir sponsored by the Southern California Vocal Association (SCVA) and American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). More information can be found on their websites; SCVA  and ACDA of California ACDAcal.org

There are also opportunities for field trips and tours/travel (pending approval by local and state health regulations)

The choir program presents 4 concerts per year:

Fall: Usually seasonally themed with a variety of music

Winter: Usually traditional holiday

Festival (March): Difficult competition music presented at festivals for ratings

Spring: The MOST FUN concert of the year, usually pop or Broadway with dancing
